Mike started weightlifting in 1984 and his competitive carrier began when he was only 14 years old. He joined World's Gym and within six months built incredible muscle mass for his age. His friends encouraged him to enter his first bodybuilding contest, the 1985 Mr. Camden County. Surprisingly, Mike placed first in the teen division. The following week he had entered the Mr. Gloucester County; it was a much tougher competition, mostly 17-19 year old competitors. Mike placed third because of his conditioning, proportions and posing routine.

Since then Mike has won many bodybuilding competitions, including the 1999 IFBB North American Overall Title. Mike has consistently improved over the years and is never satisfied unless he is bigger and better than before.
